The Grade 5 music students have been researching different instruments from around the world, and today they learned all about an interesting four-stringed Chinese instrument called the Pipa.
Grade 5 student Richard wanted to learn more about the Pipa after seeing his mother, Dr. Feng Liu, play it for many years. We invited her to visit so we could all learn about this ancient lute. Dr. Liu explained the history of the instrument, showed how ancient Chinese music was written, and demonstrated some performance techniques. She also played a beautiful traditional piece of music about bamboo shoots in the Spring - something we would all love to see right about now! Thank you so much for visiting Dr. Liu!
