Teacher Mme Riley accompanied Senior Students Maddie and Sean to St. Louis this past weekend to celebrate the final activities of the Bicentennial of Saint Philippine Duchesne’s arrival in North America.
They stayed in Missouri with a welcoming Network host family, and experienced some incredibly moving moments during the trip. Some highlights included visiting the first North American Sacred Heart School that Philippine opened in 1818, a spiritually enlightening liturgy at the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, Maddie and Sean’s involvement in the procession for the Mass, and meeting the last members of the local Patawatomi nation, whom Philippine cared for so deeply. We’d like to thank the Kruses for being such amazing hosts, the Network Students, alum, and RSCJ who were so welcome and gracious, and Mme Riley for being such a fantastic guide for our students. It was such a great opportunity for our students to be part of such a memorable occasion and to have SHSH represented.
