Last Thursday may have been wet and rainy, but it didn’t dampen the spirits or efforts of our cross country teams as we ran our way to our most successful showing ever.
Our Junior Girls’ team won their first ever Regional Banner as the 14 girls, led by Abby Titus (13th), Elianne Cao, Kate Childs, and Anne Keith, beat out 16 other Halifax teams. This team will be off to the provincials later this month, as will the Intermediate Girls’ team which came 2nd overall. Their strong showing was led by Tallulah MacNeil (8th), Sarah MacAskill, and Claire Rankin. The Senior Girls’ team also came in 2nd, and had an excellent day. As expected, Maggie Smith took the title with a personal best despite the wind and rain. Mary Cate Driscoll-Sangster (11th) also had a great race, as did teammates Arika Miyashita and Gabrielle Côté. On the boys side, the Junior team just missed out on a provincial qualifying spot finishing 6th. Jacob Côté had a great run and was 20th overall. Will Nickerson had an incredible race and finished 6th overall in the Intermediate Boys’ race and he will be joining the girls at the provincials. Way to go Sharks; what an impressive display of talent and dedication. Thanks also to our incredible coaching staff - Ms. LeFrank, Mrs. Leadbetter, and Mr. Griffiths - who were there every step of the way.
