Senior School Athletics

learning to compete

At Sacred Heart, we believe that a complete education includes a physical component to strengthen the mind and the body.  Our students have daily opportunities to participate in intramural sports or just work out in our fitness centre.  But so much of our school life and spirit centres around our varsity athletics program.  With multiple teams in virtually every sport imaginable, it’s easy for a student to join a team or try a new sport.

Our teams are competitive within the independent school network as well as the public school network.  As a proud member of the Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation (NSSAF,) we are committed to good sportsmanship and fair play. Having said that, it’s also true that we love to win and so our teams practice and play hard every week; whether it’s on the court or on the field.  As the athletes work with their coaches to refine their skills, our teachers work with them to develop the leadership and academic skills needed to excel as much in the classroom as they do in their sport. Sacred Heart has a proud history of elite athletics and even Olympians making our school their home.

Our Fountain Academy boys and our Sacred Heart High School girls compete in soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball and field hockey.  We also compete on co-ed teams in cross country running, badminton, table tennis, track and field, and hockey. Go Sharks!
