Sacred Heart Elementary School is a vibrant, child-centered community. Our work as educators is grounded in our school’s five goals: to educate to faith, intellectual values, personal growth, building community, and helping others. We strive to adopt current best practices that enable us to engage your child in her or his educational journey in these five realms.
Children arrive at school full of questions. We work to help them keep this wild curiosity alive while seeking answers and building a knowledge base for future learning.
Our teams of early childhood specialists orchestrate learning through play, while introducing our Junior Primary and Primary children to the structure and routines of school. In this nurturing environment, every child is known, and teachers work in partnership with caregivers. Our teams of early childhood specialists orchestrate learning through play, while introducing our Junior Primary and Primary children to the structure and routines of school. In this nurturing environment, every child is known, and teachers work in partnership with caregivers. Our unique Junior Primary experience is designed for children who will be 4 years old by December 31st of that academic year.
We are conscious of making best use of instructional time, with blocks of reading, writing and math every day. And at the same time, we value and support learning across the many disciplines. Our students engage in physical education, music, science, religion, social studies, art, and healthy living.
We are committed to providing effective, age-appropriate French instruction. The language is introduced in Junior Primary and Primary. The bilingual program of Grades 1 and 2, with half day English and half day French, provides a solid foundation of oral fluency and confidence. Building on this, our daily academic core French in Grades 3 through 6 sets our students up for success in High School French.
Our Learning Strategists work collaboratively with teachers to ensure that students’ academic and social-emotional needs are addressed.
We offer a myriad of co-curricular activities, including Battle of the Books, Intramural sports, Choir, Beginner Band, Karate, Yoga, and Mandarin Chinese. We have a lively After School Program on site to engage your child until your workday is done.
Here at Sacred Heart, we teach the whole child, encouraging healthy development in all areas including language, cognition, physical, social, emotional, artistic, and spiritual growth. Children need and deserve balance in their lives.
