Welcome to our school year and our new Head of School

Our Opening of School Liturgy is always special, but this year was even more so as we formally welcomed and installed our new Head of School, Dennis Phillips, at a mass of the Holy Spirit. This full-school celebration, the first in almost three years, was officiated by Archbishop Brian Dunn. In his homily, he compared our School to a sports team, one in which every player brings their own gifts to their role or position and together they work as a team, guided by a coach. At School, we too all have a role to play as part of our Sacred Heart community, bringing our own faith and gifts, and guided by the Holy Spirit as our ultimate coach.

In addition to Archbishop Dunn, we were joined by the RSCJ, special guests, student leaders, and our students and staff. One of those special guests was Nat Wilburn, Head of the Conference of Sacred Heart Education who, along with Board of Governors representative Lois Dyer Mann, presided over the installation of Mr. Phillips. With open hearts and thoughtful reflection, we welcomed Mr. Phillips as our new Head of School and vowed to support him in his new role.

In music — thank you to our Grade 6 students and talented faculty accompanists — words, prayer, and reflection, we welcomed this new school year, and our new Head of School, with grace and love. We look forward to the many ways we will grow together in compassion this school year.
