The Capital Regional Track and Field Championships took place this week and the Sharks were on fire!
Only the top four from each event at this meet qualify for the Provincial Championships and Sacred Heart had several students reach this achievement! Emma Hamlyn is off to Provincials in the Senior Girls 400m, breaking an 8-year-old School record. Jon Earle took 9 seconds off his record-breaking time in the 1500m from last week and set a new 800m Senior Boys record to qualify in the 800, 1500, and 3000m. Edwin Siller took the Junior Boys 400m School record from graduating student Charlie Simms and is off to provincials in the event. Tallulah MacNeil improved all of her times from last week, including taking 15 seconds off her winning time last week in the Senior Girls 1500m race to qualify for provincials in the 800, 1500, and 3000m and, along with Emma, Claire Rankin, and Isabel Casey will be competing in the Senior Girls 4x400m. Isobel Schrader improved her triple jump by 34 cm to qualify in the Junior Girls event. The Junior Girls 4x400, comprised of Isobel as well as Molly Sancton, Kailyn Kaulbach, and Liviya Driver, captured a podium spot to earn their way to Provincials and help their team finish an impressive 5th overall in the standings in a pool of over 30 schools!
Lots of personal bests were set and spirits were high! We're looking forward to even more fun in the sun at the Provincial Championships next week.
