Feast of St. Philippine Duchesne

Both our Elementary and Senior Schools held special assemblies to honour and celebrate St. Philippine Duchesne, founder of the first Sacred Heart school in North America and beloved figure for our Sacred Heart community.

The assemblies were hosted by Grade 6 and Grade 8W students respectively and were filled with reflection and inspiration. Both were a great reminder of how Saint Philippine gives us hope that anything is possible if we work hard and that even though she was not without fault, she was a woman of humility, strength, and faith, whose commitment laid the foundation of Sacred Heart education across North America.

Students and staff were inspired by special guest Sr. Kim King, RSCJ, who read a prayer she wrote in honour of St. Philippine Duchesne and shared the story of how this prayer came to be.

Big thanks to our Grade 6 students in the Elementary School, our Grade 8W Barat students, Ms. MacDougall, Ms. Fear, and Campus Minister Moira Schrader for all their hard work in making these assemblies so special.

Happy Feast Day to all our sister Sacred Heart Schools around the world!
