Sunday December 20th is the fourth Sunday of Advent, and yesterday we celebrated the occasion by lighting the fourth candle of our Advent wreath during our last virtual Advent Assembly, this time led by our Senior Student Council.
The fourth candle symbolizes the promise of peace and the steadfast love and presence of God through any conflict or trouble we face.
For the last few weeks, different classes from our Senior School led the Advent Assemblies each Monday from the Little Chapel, while everyone at SHSH watched them via Zoom. Each Assembly was prepared thoughtfully and with love by our students, their teachers, and Campus Minister Moira Shrader. Candle by candle we were preparing our hearts not only for the celebration of Jesus’ arrival in Bethlehem, but also as a reminder of His coming daily.
Our School community - students, families, faculty, and staff - worked together during this school year, and this Advent Season was no exception. These virtual Advent Assemblies have been different from our traditional service at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, but each special assembly gave us a creative new journey through Advent.
Special thanks to the Grade 8R boys, Grade 9W, and Grade 7W girls, our Senior Student Council, Mr. Quigley, Dr. DaSilva, Ms. Bekkers, and Campus Minister Moira Shrader for making these assemblies so special.
