Husky and Shredder team up to recognize French students
For the first time in our Elementary School, a special project between Sacred Heart School of Halifax and Saint Mary’s University’s Service Learning Office allowed our Grade 5 French students to embark on a journey of words, lyrics, and learning.
Over the past 12 weeks, some SMU translation students joined our classrooms to help our kids learn about the challenges of translating different media from English to French and vice versa. The project culminated last Friday, when our students received their certificates of participation from the hands of the SMU Husky himself and our very own Shredder the Shark; the first time these two mascots officially met!
A special thank you to SHSH parent and alumna Rohini Bannerjee, Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies at SMU, along with Alison Comeau, Grade 5 French teacher and SMU alumna, for partnering together on this special project. Merci beaucoup!
