Spring is in the air, and so is budding curiosity! While learning all about plants and how they grow, our JP students were curious to find out whether or not seeds need soil to sprout.
This inspired JP educators Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. Wade to help the students find out for themselves through a fun, educational experiment. By placing seeds and some wet cotton in ziploc bags, our students created their own self-sustaining greenhouses that were able to water themselves thanks to condensation accumulation within the bags. After Easter break, our JP classes were amazed to find that not only were their seeds able to sprout without soil, but some had even outgrown their “greenhouses”! It will be interesting to see just how big these plants will grow.
