2019 National Debate Championship & Donahoe Cup

For the 14th year in a row, Sacred Heart hosted the Donahoe Cup, named in honour of the Donahoe family and their many generations of patronage and support here at SHSH. This year, and once before, the Donahoe Cup was held in conjunction with the Senior National Debating Championships, which each province takes a turn hosting. That meant double the hardware for the winning team this year.
For the first time in the event’s history, all ten provinces were represented, and it meant a big contingent of 124 students taking part in very high-level competition over the three-day event. Congratulations to the winning team from British Columbia - Jaylnn Barth and Amelia Hadfield. Kudos to SHSH students Anisha Rajaselvam, Madeleine Peet, Julia Wright, Amelia Wallworth, Cullen Roach, and Jaden Lawen who all represented Team Nova Scotia extremely well.

It takes an incredible amount of volunteer power to run an event of this size, and we thank the many volunteers who gave of their time, including coaches Brian Casey, Patricia Donnelly, Kathryn Bjornson, and Christina McKay.
