The JP's decided to try a math experiment to see which could make the longest line: math cubes or links?
Two groups of four worked together to make a line with cubes and a line with links. In their groups they shared, co-operated, had many conversations about their line, and discussed which one was going to be longer. After looking at the lines and measuring them by counting how many feet they were, we learned the link line was longer. The children enjoyed the activity and were overheard saying "...we did it because of teamwork!" and "...you don't care if anybody wins." It was a wonderful way to experiment, and start the process of inquiry and critical thinking.
