Valentines for Vets

Our Senior Girls got a headstart on Valentine’s Day by crafting handmade and heartfelt messages for our Veterans.
“Valentines for Vets” is an initiative that was started by late newspaper columnist Ann Landers in 1989, who wrote a yearly "Valentines for Vets" column, asking her readers to make personal hand-crafted valentines for those who served their country.
This tradition is carried on by Veterans Affairs Canada each year, as they continue to distribute valentines to Veterans in long-term care facilities across the country. Each class created heart-warming cards filled with messages of thanks and love for those who have sacrificed so much for our country. It is because of these men and women that we are able to celebrate Valentine’s Day in this free and beautiful nation, and we as a community couldn’t be more grateful.
