What would you do with popsicle sticks and hot glue? Could you build a bridge? Would it actually support weight if you could?
These were questions posed to our Grade 7 boys during their science unit on structures. As part of a highly-anticipated competition, they used their sticks and glue to create well-engineered structures that could hold as much weight as possible. After crafting some imaginative designs, the students invited the Junior Primaries down to watch as they tested the integrity of their creations. The winning duo, Patrick and James, created a bridge that supported an astounding seven science textbooks—that’s 128 times its own weight! Well done future engineers!
